No. Might be difficult for some to remove OE plastic shiftknob. It's on tight.

Thoughts

The leather surface is definetly better than the plastic shift knob that is OE on the SE trim of the '97 240SX. I've looked at aftermarket shiftknob before deciding on the LE shiftknob due to the following reasons: The tranny shifts better with the weight knob. $35 dollars for a good leather shiftknob is cheap. Aftermarket shiftknob are usally too tacky to be elegant.
