Problems
Removing stock shift knob is a serious pain. Thread cap seized to shift lever, spun inside shift knob. Couldn't get ring that held shift boot on off the stock lever, so ordered a custom leather shift boot to replace stock vinyl boot.
Tips
Get some good needle-nosed pliers for snap ring and C ring. DON'T over-tighten the bolts that hold the assembly down - this will make for very notchy shifts.
Thoughts
Performance is GREATLY improved! Speed shifts are much easier, shifting in general is much more positive. Shift throw was shortened by ~45%. Shifter reach is much better with new stick position - just enough closer that you don't have to lean into the shift to or from 5th gear. Confidence under hard acceleration and hard shifting is definitely improved. Momo Combat knob finished it off nicely. Still waiting on my shift boot from Alan Gunn custom leather to round out the installation.
Other
Worth it? Oh hell yes! This kit didn't come with instructions (as with most short-shift kits from what I'm reading on the reviews and installs pages). Definite kudos to Ryan for putting instructions and checklists up on the installs page. Go print all three of these (checklist and both images) before you start!
