Problems
Trial and Error. I thought I would be able to modify the 300 fuel pump to work. That isn't the case. I had to swap the motor from the 300 fuel pump to the 240.
Tips
Disassemble everything and clean it good. Have a nice file to trim the 240 sock tube (it would not fit otherwise), some needle nose pliers to remove the sock retainer ring, a slot screw driver for prying and a phillips head screw driver. You will also need about a 1/4 to 3/8 thick piece of silicone rubber Be very careful removing the pump and installing it. It is tricky. In the FAQ, it says to remove the neoperene cover. I did that but the bottom of the 240 pump motor will not fit the 300 pump anyway. So I put the neoprene cover back on, since it has some wings that can be used for support and it looks good as well as protect the motor. Since the rubber bottom of the 240 motor does not fit on the 300 motor, a silicone spacer will need to be cut and fixed to the bottom of the 300 motor. This allows the 300 motor to sit on the bottom plate of the 240 fuel pump structure. It doesn't matter if the rubber is thinner than necessary, bend the bottom plate to apply pressure to the 300 motor. Also, using a tie wrap or something, attach the 300 motor neoprene wing(s) to the 240 post that runs alongside the fuel pump motor. Anything else you can think of to add lateral support to the fuel pump motor, go ahead and do it. Better to be safe than sorry (just don't add something that will dissolve in the gas).
Thoughts
Better looking pump but since in the gas tank, who cares. As far as performance, definite improvement in launch conditions, but that may be due to the upgraded fuel filter as well.
Other
Anyone intending to do this swap, you are removing the pump motor from the 300ZX unit and installing it into the 240 unit. Also, liberally use some carb cleaner to clean the sock. This is not a direct bolt in. As stated in the FAQ, upgrade to the 300zx fuel filter and I put in a 15 amp fuse in the fuse box. Cars later than the 91 had a 15 amp fuse already. So, I also bought a later fuse box cover with a 15 amp fuel pump fuse denoted.
